About Us The Family After is a blog I created to help me have a safe space to share thoughts, feelings and ideas with others who might be experiencing similar struggles. This blog is not limited to a specific audience. My hope is that it will reach those who need to hear something real and encouraging based on whatever need they have. As you read through the post you will see a range of things that cover many different topics. If there is any one area that speaks to you please feel free to comment, email or share the post as you desire. I am also available at any time for any questions you might have.

Who We Are |
Hello, my name is Cherease and I am an alcoholic. I started this blog many years ago when I was a stay at home mom struggling with my disease and desperately needing to find a way to feel connected. At that time I was married but it was very unstable. We are now divorced but doing our best in the co-parenting department. There has been a lot of trials and a lot of triumphs. Although we are not defined by our accomplishments, gifts, talents or failures, I think it is important to recognize them and be able to speak freely in a safe space. There is something powerful that transpires when we share with others about our difficulties and successes. My hope is that this blog offers that to anyone who is reading it. We all have the ability to change the lives of others if we are willing to do so.

Our History |
The Family After was established in 2015. I had 3 little boys then and a serious problem with alcohol. With only a couple years of sobriety under my belt, I felt this desire in my spirit to start a blog where I could share some of my journey with others. My struggles with alcoholism, my marriage, my spirituality, forgiveness etc. I wanted to be transparent so people could relate. It's now 2022 and those little boys are not so little anymore. Seasons of life change, circumstances of life change but one thing has remained the same and that is my purpose to continue to reach out to others with the hand of love. I hope you enjoy the posts I have here and I look forward to continuing this path of recovery and growth together.
